Interview with Nick Robinson

Snowsport GB: How long have you been skiing?
Nick Robinson: I first learnt to ski aged 7 at Aldershot dry slope, I soon progressed through the groups ahead of schedule until I was in "top skids" where my dad was the trainer. As my dad was a racer himself he introduced me to the Aldershot race team aged 8 where my brother was already participating. I didn't get a chance to ski on snow until I was 10 when I went on a family holiday to La plagne. The following year aged 11 I went on my first race camp on snow with Aldershot race team, which was coached by my Dad.

What is your preferred discipline?
I prefer the Slalom discipline partly because its what im best at, but enjoy the speed events a lot.

What are your skiing aspirations?
My dream as a kid is too be Olympic champion, but another main aspiration is that I want to be a consistent podium finisher on the World Cup tour, eventually ending up with a Crystal globe.

What is your nickname?
"fatty Robinson" created by Mark.  "Bubbles" created by Tristan.

If you were not a ski racer what would you be doing?
I would be at college like most other kids my age are. Many people believe that I would be a sports commentator, but im not sure really.

What's on your ipod?
All kinds of music, I have songs that fire me up before a race such as "Welcome to the Jungle", I also have Gym class Heroes, 50 Cent, Fort minor, and many, many others.

What is your favourite food?
I love crisps, don't know why, I just always have.

Can you tell us something no-body else knows about you?
Umm that would mean everyone would know.

What can you be heard saying most often e.g. your favorite catchphrase/motto
"are you mental"
